To celebrate the release of Brockhampton’s deeply personal, rap-focussed sixth album, Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine, we’ve collaborated with the band on a limited edition print zine. The 40-page project features original imagery shot over a weekend at home in LA by photographer Tyler Kolhoff, in which the musicians are captured painting, joyriding golf carts and hanging out with their dogs. The resulting visuals are collaged in homage to early issues of i-D and the glory days of band fanzines.
But that’s not all! Throughout the zine, Brockhampton also dive deep into the stories behind the record in conversation with their friend and fan, Virgil Abloh. Their discussion also spans topics including creativity as therapy, the importance of authenticity, and the decision — under legendary producer Rick Rubin’s guidance — to make something more aggressive, unexpected and hard-hitting than that of the R&B boy band they’re often seen as.
We’ve also gone and made an equally-as-limited-edition T-shirt featuring images from the zine — so you can wear your love for Roadrunner on your long sleeved tee. Both the shirt and zine are available via shop.brckhmptn.com and i-D’s online store from today. Grab them while you can.
