    Caleb Stein’s quarantine in photos

See the lockdown in London through documentary photographer Caleb Stein's eyes.

25-year-old Caleb Stein shoots slow, precise and considered black-and-white documentary-style photography. A former studio assistant to Bruce Gilden and a graduate of Art History at Vassar College, his work has all the hallmarks of a classic, traditional approach to photography. He’s currently in lockdown in London. “But I'm pretty nomadic these days,” he says. “My wife and I just came back from living in Hanoi for two years where we were working on Long Time No See,” his collaborative exploration of the memory and legacy of the Vietnam-America War. “We were actually in a near-quarantine situation there, and then we came here for a funeral and found ourselves in the same situation all over again.” Despite being unable to shoot much right now — “A lot of what I do is about interacting with people, so it has had a significant impact so far” — Caleb is enjoying the pause to his routine as well as London’s clear blue skies. And the thing keeping him sane? “My wife's meme account.”
