Gucci has collaborated with 31 international artists including Amalia UlmanRyder RippsRen Hang and Kalen Holloman for a remix art project to celebrate Alessandro Michele‘s new Gucci Blooms and Gucci Caleido prints. “#GucciGram is a starting point to tell different stories, which are all united by a great freedom,” Michelle says, explaining that, “Today creativity is often born and finds its voice in digital media, a vital source of visual culture”.

The selected artists are posting their work on Instagram with the hashtag #GucciGram, but there is also a microsite where more information can be found on the project and artists. “We don’t need to wait to go to a museum anymore,” technology and culture journalist Kyle Chayka writes in the the project’s introduction. “We just open Instagram on our smartphones and have immediate, intimate access to brilliant photographers and artists all around the world who post their work as soon as they create it,” he explains, asking, “What could be better for consuming culture?”

The project mixes well-known artists like Amalia Ulman, who just exhibited at Frieze in London, and Noah Kalina, whose book Cabin Porn is a New York Times Bestseller, with relatively unknown internet artists including 19-year-old Chris Rellas, an American student in Paris who is known for his contemporary fashion additions to the iconic paintings of antiquity.
