As if the return of surreal, small-town murder mystery series Twin Peaks wasn’t exciting enough, director David Lynch has announced that he is writing a definitive memoir-slash-biography that will arrive in 2017.
Not simply cashing in on the renewed interest the Twin Peaks revival will bring, Lynch is writing the book — titled Life and Work —specifically to set the record straight about himself and his oeuvre in the face of a mountain of internet BS.
“There’s a lot of bullshit out there about me, in books and all over the Internet,” Lynch says in a statement from publisher Canongate, the Guardian‘s report. “I want to get all the right information in one place, so if someone wants to know something, they can find it here”.
As is to be expected from Lynch, Life and Work will not simply present your average single-person perspective. Written in collaboration with Lynch’s old friend, journalist and curator Kristine McKenna, the biography will be constructed from interviews with 90 friends, family and collaborators, with Lynch adding his reflections of these encounters by “riffing on his own life”. “I wouldn’t do it with anyone other than Kristine; she and I go way back, and she gets it right,” Lynch says. We can’t wait!
