Once again, Dolce&Gabbana dives into its own heritage to trace new perspectives of the brand, starting from those aesthetics that have always made it stand out. One of these is the Leo print, a true obsession for the designing duo, which has its roots in their bold vision of fashion.
Today, to reinterpret this iconic Dolce&Gabbana print in a contemporary version, the duo has decided to shake things up from the inside, re-imagining this staple in a graphic key through the application of a framework of associations and references to insert it in the context of men’s fashion.
That’s how Tuxedos, Total Denim Looks and sand coloured pieces in total Leo print are born, for a collection with silhouettes inspired by both street style and workwear, reinterpreting the most classic garments with prints, logos and slogans. The accessories range from classic shoes to sneakers, passing through multifunctional bags and vests, now fundamental elements of urban clothing.
The Leo capsule collection speaks to those dynamic, unstoppable and always on the move people, who juggle the obstacles of the city without fear of paradoxes, dualities and aesthetic clashes. A vision of fashion embodied in particular by London and its people, the Leo Crew, who i-D shot for this editorial.
Graham
“Hello! My name is Graham and I’m from London. I’m studying film, a discipline that allows me to be 100% myself, expressing my creativity without limits. I have always been attracted to audiovisual media, be it video or moving images, and I just finished my first short film! A project that talks about voices, and the power they have to control your mind.” – Graham
Nimie
“Hi, I’m Nimie! My friends would describe me as confident, funny and … I don’t know … maybe, charming? I can’t wait to start the Fashion Communication course I signed up for next year, so as to reinforce my path, that I’ve already started, as a stylist and model. Being an individual who operates in the world, for me, means expressing myself and my visions without limitations or rules, without anyone labeling me. Being creative gives me the opportunity to do all this, to express my identity through clothes and art.” – Nimie
Lucas
“Hi, I’m Lucas. I am 23 years old and I come from Valencia. I am a professional skater, and I express myself through sport and graffiti art. I love London because it gives me all this, and in its streets I never stop discovering new corners and meeting new people who share my same passions. My community is everything to me. ” – Lucas
Dextra
“Hi, I’m Dextra! I am 19 years old, I am a non-binary, transfeminine and autistic person, and my pronouns are her / them. Coming to understand and accept all these aspects of my identity has been extremely complex, but also liberating. Now I understand that I can express myself the way I want, without having to conform to the pre-established norms or failing at being me.” – Dextra
Miles
“Hello! My name is Miles and I’m from Croydon. I express myself through sport, especially with running and athletics. Sport is not just discipline, but also creativity, because it knows no limits and pushes you to constantly overcome them. And that’s sort of what happens to me when I run 100 and 200 meters sprints. Without this tension, I would never have scored 11.1 seconds in the 100 meters! And I still have a long way to go. ” – Miles
Bobby
“Hello! I’m Bobby, and I turned 18 just a few days ago. I’m a Gemini, but I’m not a double face, I swear! For me, being creative is a very special and crucial aspect of my personality, because it means expressing myself while being authentic and sincere. For me there is nothing more beautiful than this.” – Bobby
Connor
“Hi, I’m Connor and I’m 19. What I love about London is the sense of belonging in your neighborhood, which makes you feel at home for real. But what I also love about this city is the fact that you never stop getting to know new places and new realities. I like to share my passions with my friends, because they completely represent myself, always and in any case. ” – Connor
Natty
“Hey! My name is Natty and I am 27 years old. London, in my opinion, is the perfect city for young creatives. I feel at home here. There are so many cultures that intersect and collide, giving life to a sometimes even paradoxical mix, made up of many different realities. That’s why I like it, it allows me to expand my horizons and points of view. And that’s why it’s so exciting and vital. ” – Natty
