    Othoniel Rodriguez, 19, Dominican Republic.

Describe your country to someone who has never been before… The Dominican Republic is an island in the Caribbean surrounded by beautiful beaches. The people living in Dominican Republic are nice and very friendly. What changes would you like to see in the world? The end of armed conflicts, child abuse, and mistreatment of the environment. How do you think we can get young people involved in politics today? I think we can get young people involved in politics by showing them the effects of what politics can do and how we can make a difference as individuals. What are your hopes and dreams for the future of our planet? My hopes and dreams would be that the people on this planet begin to care more about our environment and start making change to clean it.

    Yogeiry Garcia, 17, Dominican Republic.

What are the biggest issues facing young people in your country/city today? The most notable problems that the young are facing today is public safety and lack of work opportunity. If you were a politician, what would you do differently? I would stop making promises and start doing. The world, my country, and all the nations that make up the globe need people who can defend the welfare of the nation, guiding their public policies to benefit their constituents. What are your hopes and dreams for the future of our planet? For a better planet, it is essential to create a union and remove barriers, create change and drive to solve our problems.

    Carlos Sanchez, 19, Dominican Republic.

Describe your country to someone who has never been before…It’s an awesome country with beautiful tourist areas, beautiful beaches, amazing places, and a tropical climate. The best country in the world, no doubt. What changes would you like to see in the world? World peace and love. No need for hate and violence, we all just have to come together. What do you think governments need to do to make those changes a reality? Creating a system where countries can work together to make the planet a better place. How do you think we can get young people involved in politics today? Politics is a stressful topic, but it’s important. I think parents should teach their young kids about politics and the different changes that could happen if they were more involved.

    Noel Alfredo, 20, Dominican Republic.

What are the biggest issues facing young people in your country/city today? The biggest problem facing young people is the crime. They say they are working to better the country and that violence is decreasing but everyday we have fear of going outside and being attacked by someone willing to kill for just a cell phone. If you were a politician, what would you do differently? I would focus on the poorest areas of the country to try and help resolves these issues. I would reach out to the locals and personally hear their struggles and the changes they wish to happen. What are your hopes and dreams for the future of our planet? To respect one another and work together. For the world to move on with as little violence as possible.
