She’s also planning to drop a new video next week, according to an Instagram post.

After suggesting she wanted to pull a Beyoncé and release her highly anticipated fourth album without any warning sometime in October, Canadian avant-pop goddess Grimes (aka Claire Boucher) has kept part of that promise. Just an hour ago, Boucher shared the album art she drew for Art Angels on Instagram, captioning the post “art angels: album cover. music & video next week. artwork by grimes.”

Boucher also illustrated the covers for her previous three LPs: Geidi Primes, Halfaxa, and Visions. Although Art Angels‘ cover is still rendered in her signature anime style, this work is mostly in color — a slight departure from the black and white work featured on the previous three releases.

But expect more than just a different take on album art. Boucher stated in her Fader cover profile earlier this year that her fourth release’s sounds are coming from a much different perspective than her previous tracks: “I think all my other albums were, like, sad. And this time it’s more happy and angry. I live in my own house that I pay for. I bought all this equipment myself. I control my own life now. No one has any say over what I do or where I go or when I do it.”

As for that “music&video next week” portion, we’re as excited as you are. Watch this space for more!
