In support of the National Observer – a forthcoming Kickstarter-funded Canadian publication that will report on environmental issues – our fave Canadian is auctioning off a painting she created for the single “Go” as well as one of only six posters that were designed for “Entropy” (her Bleachers collaboration) on eBay, with 100% of the proceeds going to the National Observer (an offshoot of the existing newspaper the Vancouver Observer).
This is what she said in her Tumblr announcement:
“The main reason I love the Observer is for its dedication to Canada’s environmental issues. How the Canadian gov has been silencing non profits with audits, and basically acting like complete creeps, taking money from oil companies, ignoring the communities who are noticing health issues related to tar sands or fracking, the massive environmental damage from oil spills – all that kinda stuff. The Observer has broken a bunch of important stories and won awards for their journalism. If we don’t stay aware and actively shut down proposals like keystone XL there could be massive environmental/social consequences in and outside Canada.”
We love an artist who uses their platform to effect change, so go bid! Get your hands on the original artwork for “Go” here, or the print for “Entropy” here. You’ve got four days!
