Who?
For Zadig & Voltaire’s autumn/winter 18 collection, creative director Cecilia Bonstrom sent a posse of rock chicks practically storming down the runway to an ear splitting soundtrack. Decked out in leather and plaid, with feathers in their hair, it was a definite scream in the dark against the forces of minimalism and day time dressing that surround us. Sisters, unite against ennui!
What?
Stella Maxwell opened the show in a leather jumpsuit with crystal detailing, which was very Marianne Faithfull in Girl on a Motorbike. Teddy Quinlivan’s patent leather coat lined in shearling was a hit, while Dilone showed a lighter side to the collection in a red knit dress, replete with lace peeking out the bottom. It was a convincing mix of masculine tailoring — mainly peacoats and jackets — and sparkle, colour and texture. The men, meanwhile, were clad in chunky fair isle knits, skinny plaid trousers, and sinuous skinny belts buckled multiply around their waists. As the feathers bounced by in the models hairs, it was hard not to feel the uplifting, musical spirit of the collection.
Wow!
Hailey Baldwin closed the show in the fantastically disco lurex number, with silver stripes and matching dangling earrings that looked about a foot long. Even rock chicks need evening wear.
