Rytmeklubben (The Rhythm Club) is a crew of four DJs slash producers; Henrik the Artist, Hi Tom, DJ Karaoke and Torjus. Like most people, they like to get together with their college friends every now and then. Unlike most people, when they do get together with their college friends they produce the kind of R&B club tunes that quickly rack up hundreds of thousands of plays as well as approval from Ryan Hemsworth and Eclair Fifi. Having played the same night back home in Trondheim over and over again, the foursome also count Cashmere Cat as both friend and fan.

In a very short amount of time Rytmeklubben has gone from DJing local hip-hop nights to remixing Zayn Malik and putting out the impressive “Like That,” a shiny Scandi pop banger guaranteed to get stuck in your head right away. In fact, it’s so good that we begged the group to let us share the drippy, spiky visuals with you today. Great colors, great plants, and great handy yellow lyrics throughout, a feature that surely came from DJ Karaoke. We called on Rytmeklubben to make us fun-time mix too, and they did just that. Watch the visuals, stick the mix on, and meet the group below.

Hi Rytmeklubben. What’s this mix all about?
Honestly, just trying to get reacquainted with the music on our hard drives and also the internet. Like, what did we miss?

How and why did you start making music?
We have all got musical background from growing up, like playing in bands and stuff, guitars, etc. Torjus was in a high-school marching band and played the drums. Henrik played the violin for a while. Tom and Martin had some sick bands.

What was the first album you ever bought?
    OT: Daft Punk, Discovery
    Henrik: Rihanna, Anti
DJ Karaoke: Millencolin, The Melancholy Collection
Hi Tom: Elvis Presley, Having Fun With Elvis On Stage

What’s the most hedonistic party you’ve ever been to?
Karaoke had a party in a drive-in motel once deep in Norway with gallons of Pepsi Max and they had to pay a $2,000 fee because… you know how it goes. That was pretty wild.

What do you know now that you wish you had known when you were 16?
How embarrassing stuff turns out to be.

What would your dream rider consist of?
If they could just provide a shoehorn, that would be very convenient. Also, hotels: please take note of this.

Which three tracks are essential to your sets?
Really like to have one that is way too fast and uplifting and just changes the mood completely, also one that is just really sexy, and then that one that everyone sings along to.

Which artists or producers are you a particular fan of at the moment?
We love Taylor Girlz to death.

What movie do you think your discography would best soundtrack?
    Freaky Friday.

Your house is on fire. After loved ones, what do you save?
    Food.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a new ability, what would it be?
Probably being able to actually convince someone to make a better choice, leaving an impact on their view of the world and seeing it from a new perspective. Getting points across in a way that alters people’s thinking based on facts and rationale, that would be great. Maybe to be able to teach people that ability as well, it could be a whole movement that would in effect change the world.

    What is your greatest ambition?
To be able to relax and be relaxed for a continued period of time, i.e. a couple of months.
