We really wanna get to know 20-year-old Sara Pétursdóttir, aka Glowie. Since we first saw her at Sonar Reykjavik back in February, we knew that she was something special. Commanding the attention of everyone in Harpa’s large concert hall, she performed her debut single No Lie (stuck firmly in the Icelandic charts for months) in all pink everything atop an inflatable chair to a backdrop of her name in massive letters. Soon after the festival, the young Icelander was spotted in Sony’s West London HQ where it later transpired she was signing a record deal with Columbia. Congrats are in order — both to Glowie for gaining recognition out of her home country, and to Columbia for tapping into the talent-heavy local scene so often overlooked by major labels overseas.

Exciting news: Glowie has a poptastic new video. Produced by London duo ill Blu, the single, Tribalist (Get To Know), has all the makings of a hit (claps, Middle Eastern vibes, high danceability) and Radio 1 producers clearly recognise that, as it’s racking up play after play. With spot-on vocals, dance routines galore and a hypnotic melody likely to stick around in your head for days, Glowie might just be Iceland’s answer to Dua Lipa. A Very Good Thing for pop fans everywhere, keep your eyes on this one.
