Iggy Pop has announced the release of his 17th solo album, and first collection of new material since 2009. Titled Post Pop Depression, the album was produced by Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age and features contributions from Homme’s QOTSA bandmate Dean Fertitia and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders. The punk icon said he and Homme had “a great big rumble in the desert USA” while making the album in secret at Homme’s studios in Los Angeles and Joshua Tree in southeastern California. “This was to go where neither of us had gone before. That was the agreement. And to go all the way,” Homme added intriguingly.
Pop — real name James Osterberg Jr. — will support the album with a soon-to-be-announced tour, joined on the road by Homme, Fertitia and Helders. Post Pop Depression will be released on March 18 via Rekords Rekords, Loma Vista and Caroline International. The album’s lead single Gardenia, streaming above, is available as an “instant grat” track to fans who pre-order the album now. Check out the full tracklist below.
