Ikea — home of Swedish meatballs, minimalist design and all things flat-packed — has once again proven it’s the lol-est furniture outlet in the world. Earlier today, the company took to Facebook to respond to a comment made by Yeezus himself who spoke about his plans to create a line of furniture for the brand.
In an interview with BBC Radio, Kanye told of his desire to make an affordable line that younger fans could buy to decorate their college dorm rooms with. “I have to work with Ikea, make furniture for interior design, for architecture. I want to create a minimalist apartment inside of a college dorm,” he said. “Yo Ikea, allow Kanye to create, allow him to make this thing because you know what, I want a bed that he makes, I want a chair that he makes,” he continued, speaking in character as a young fan.
Never one to miss a trick, Ikea quickly created a sketch of a ready-to-assemble bed, emblazoned with the Yeezy label and big enough to fit wife Kim, Taylor Swift, Amber Rose, Caitlyn Jenner, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Donald Trump, and all the others West shared a bed with in his video for “Famous.” Alongside the picture, the brand wrote the following message: “Hej Kanye, we’d love to see what you create. We could make you Famous.” Good one guys.
All jokes aside, however, earlier this year Yeezy was spotted visiting the Ikea head offices in Almhult, south Sweden. Could a Kanye x Ikea collaboration really be in the works? Watch this space.
