Karl Lagerfeld has many obsessions: his cat, Choupette; Diet Coke; Brad Kroenig; and, formerly, McDonalds. Perhaps the most constant among his great loves though, besides of course fashion, is photography. Karl first picked up a camera in 1987 (admittedly, a late start) at the encouragement of Chanel’s Image Director Eric Pfrunder, and has been snapping away ever since. The work featured in the forthcoming exhibition Karl Lagerfeld: A Visual Journey, at the private Pinacothèque museum in Paris, will include images from Lagerfeld’s many fashion editorials, as well as more artistic shots of architecture, Paris at night and himself. Two special photographic installations, inspired by Greek mythology, will also be on display.
‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Visual Journey’ opens on October 16 at the Pinacothèque de Paris and will run through March 20.
