Who else better to pick up the cool-girl torch than Coco?

Established by Kim Gordon and Daisy von Furth, and existing for only five short years between 1993 and 1998, X-Girl has come to be seen as a flash point for 90s cool girl style. A sister brand to X-Lard, a men’s brand created by Eli Bonerz, Adam Silverman, and Mike D of the Beastie Boys, it was loved by everyone from Sofia Coppola to Kathleen Hanna. Their shrunken t-shirts and preppy A-line dresses perfectly represented the decade’s laid back, low-key sexuality which we continue to idealise today.

Kim last worked directly with the brand in 1998, and in the years since it’s had a second life in Japan where it has 32 boutiques. But now X-Girl are returning to their State Side roots with a new collection. Drawing on the brand’s classic look, while keeping their eyes on the future, they’ve teamed up with Erin Magee’s label MadeMe. But perhaps most poignantly they’ve found the perfect next-gen ambassador in Kim’s daughter, Coco Gordon Moore. In the new Ricky Saiz lensed campaign, the 22-year-old child of Kim and Thurston Moore models the ten-piece capsule collection.

It’s not the first time the mother and daughter her inhabited the same fashion space: last year they appeared together in Marc Jacobs’ Fall campaign and most recently stepped out together for Madewell.

Check out the collection on MadeMe’s website.
