Fresh off the back of a mini collaboration with Caitlyn Jenner, MAC has announced that it’s pairing up with Star Trek for the brand’s most out-of-this-world collection yet. The iconic sci-fi space saga that first hit television screens in 1966 will be getting a very modern update via “cosmically charged hues” inspired by the franchise’s badass leading ladies: Deanna Troi, Uhura, Seven of Nine, and the Orion Girl, Vina. Because as with best of MAC’s collections, there’s a progressive slant that’s just as exciting as the promise of glitzy lip colors.
“Star Trek is an iconic pop culture phenomena whose storylines pushed gender and racial boundaries,” said MAC Senior Vice President and Group Creative Director James Gager in a press statement. “For its 50th anniversary, we celebrate each of Star Trek‘s powerful women in a transcending, transformational makeup collection.”
The 25-product collection will include Lipstick, Lipglass, Pressed Pigment Eye Shadow, and Studio Nail Lacquer. It’s slated to land on shelves come September — though beauty addicts and Trekkies hitting San Diego Comic-Con will be able to enjoy an exclusive presale on July 21 at MAC Gaslamp.
