A guide to Mia Goth’s style evolution

From fashion girl to final girl, the scream queen’s style hasn’t always been gothic.

With a last name like Goth, it seems that Mia Goth was always fated to become a scream queen. The English actor first made her mark on the horror genre in 2016 with Gore Verbinski’s creepy A Cure for Wellness. Since, the English actor has made a name for herself as horror’s go-to girl, starring in many of the last decade’s most fascinating horror flicks, including Luca Guadagnino’s sensual Suspiria remake, Claire Denis’ existentially devastating High Life and Ti West’s technicolor slasher Pearl.

From fashion girl to final girl, Mia’s style has shifted in tandem with her career over the last decade. The former model began her acting career already a fashion industry darling, sitting front row and dressed head to toe in Nicolas Ghesquière’s experimental Louis Vuitton and Miuccia Prada’s prim Miu Miu. As her roles became darker, so did her wardrobe. Think vamp-y Givenchy gowns, Victorian lace and goth-y dresses all in a palette of black, black, black. As Mia cements her reputation as the scream queen of the 2020’s, we look at how the actor’s style has evolved over the last decade.

Mia Goth’s always been a fashion girl. The English actor began her career in modelling before she began auditioning for films, landing her first role in Lars Von Trier’s controversial Nymphomaniac in 2013. After her cinematic debut, Mia quickly became a favourite face of designer Nicolas Ghesquière who had recently begun his tenure at Louis Vuitton. Mia’s early-career style included many of his earlier designs for LV, including prim A-line skirts and this 70s-look dress from the house’s SS15 collection.

Before the Miu Miu mini, there was Mia Goth. The English actor was a Miu Miu muse way back in 2015, when she fronted the brand’s controversial spring campaign. In addition to facing its campaigns, Mia also frequently attended Miu Miu’s PFW shows wearing the label’s girlish garb: houndstooth dresses, Mary Janes and grandma cardigans.
