Did Jesus have a nose ring? Well, his gender-bent counterpart portrayed by Paris Jackson certainly does. A first-look photo from the upcoming thriller film Habit shows the 22-year-old looking very Holy in a set of red and white robes, and some quintessentially 1st Century AD tousled locks. Chic IMO.
The model, musician and daughter of the late Michael Jackson will join actress Bella Thorne and others in the oddly Jesus-centric upcoming film which, according to a press release, will follow “a street-smart party girl with a Jesus fetish who gets mixed up in a violent drug deal and finds a possible way out by masquerading as a nun.” Who hasn’t been there?
So far, the only confirmed roles are Bella Thorne as the aforementioned “party girl” and now of course, Jackson as Jesus. That’s all we need to know, really. Paris is a relative newcomer to the world of Hollywood, though this is not quite her first rodeo: she played the role of Nelly in 2018’s dark comedy Gringo, and has had small parts in both MTV’s Scream and Lee Daniels’ Star. Alongside Bella and Paris, Gavin Rossdale, The Kills’ Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart, singer Josie Ho, and supermodel Andreja Pejic will star in the film. Libby Mitz produced and co-wrote the story with Suki Kaiser and filmmaker Janell Shirtcliff, who also directed.
To give you more of an idea of what’s in store, producer Donovan Leitch has told Fox News that the film is “inspired by early Tarantino”, and said to Entertainment Weekly that his team had deliberately chosen a cast with strong musical background due to music being one of Habit’s central themes: “Yes, we intentionally stacked the film with rock stars and will have a very rocking soundtrack.” Exciting!
