prada muse and i-D cover star mica arganaraz quotes bob dylan as her new year’s resolution

Exploding onto the scene with bangs to turn Taylor Swift green with jealousy and a face that could send a thousand designers into a frenzy, Mica Arganaraz is the next super duper model.

Topping everyone’s “Ones to Watch” lists last year, Mica Arganarez was the breakout model of 2014, walking everything from Louis Vuitton to Chanel, appearing as the first model since Sasha Pivovarova to star solo in a Prada campaign and fronting i-D’s The Beautiful Issue, shot by Willy Vanderperre and Olivier Rizzo. When she’s not strutting her stuff, Mica’s out buying vinyls with her boyfriend, playing guitar in her bedroom or painting. Now signed to Viva London, we ask the 22-year-old Argentinean beauty how it feels to be fashion’s newest big star.

    How were you discovered?
I sent a Polaroid to my now mother agency!

What would you be doing if you weren’t modelling?
Same as now, working on my paintings and art projects, learning all that I can every day.

What was your first reaction when you were told you were going to be in the Prada campaign?
    You gotta be kidding!

How do you feel about being the only one since Sasha Pivovarova to be the only girl in it?
    Honoured and proud of myself.

Tell us about the day of your i-D shoot…
It was the day after fashion week ended. I arrived and Willy gave me a hug and said to me “Ohh you are all sweaty and sick, poor little thing.” Certainly I was, but excited about what we were going do. We listened to good, loud music as always. Peter and Duffy turned me into a princess within a few minutes, Olivier chose the look, the perfect look, and we went to the rooftop to shoot. The sun made my open eye cry, but after the first click everybody was saying it was crazy amazing, I trust them a lot – so I left the set with a smile.

What’s the best thing about Argentina?
    Jorge Luis Borges.

    Where are you based now?
    Paris.

    Beach or city?
    Beach.

    What’s your favourite film?
    Solaris, Andrei Tarkovsky.

What was the last song you got stuck in your head?
    Chega de Saudade, Joao Gilberto.

    When do you feel sexiest?
When I’m naked at my place listening to some jazz or blues.

    Do you ever get insecure?
Yes I do, but I trust myself a lot.

    Are you in love?
    Oui.

    What’s your favourite emoji?
All the faces of the moon.

Do you have any secret talents?
Yes but lets not spoil them, wouldn’t be secret anymore.

    What’s your New Year’s Resolution?
“You’re going to die. You’re going to be dead. It could be 20 years, it could be tomorrow, anytime. So am I. I mean, we’re just going to be gone. The world’s going to go on without us. All right now. You do your job in the face of that, and how seriously you take yourself you decide for yourself.” Bob Dylan (I couldn’t say it better).
