Having provided the perfect soundtrack to his 80s paninaro subculture-referencing fall/winter 15 show, Gosha called on friend and collaborator Buttechno again this season. Back taking inspiration from his native Russia for spring/summer 16, the collection was still very much early 80s but this time inspired by the wave of retro-dressing in the Eastern European underground scene at the moment.
“It’s really about Moscow now, how they dress there,” Gosha explained backstage. As his young models walked the walk through the old basketball court at the Paris YMCA, they did so to the distorted synth sounds of Buttechno. Fitting very much to the collection theme, the mix opens with an intense industrial build up that leads into full-on synths and drum machines before closing with beautiful but haunting piano melodies. Hit play on an exclusive listen back.
