Somewhere, a Luca Guadagnino-directed Frank Ocean music video exists

    WHO READ OUR DREAM DIARY?!

Sometimes, a crossing of minds occurs that sends us into a tailspin. Two entities so powerful solo that the idea of them collaborating seems like a far-flung dream of ours. To tease its existence — or even, to think of the idea that, at one point in history, they might be in the same room together — is borderline cruel. But guess what? Here are two names that could make queer history together: Frank Ocean and Luca Guadagnino.

What was once just a pipe dream for many fans of the former’s music and the latter’s filmmaking has actually become a reality. Speaking to Kyle Buchanan of the New York Times about his new HBO show We Are Who We Are, the topic of Frank and collaboration arose. “We were collaborating on a music video that never happened,” Luca said. “I use the Times to launch an appeal to Frank: Frank, let’s do that video. Come on.”

Frank is a proud fan of Luca’s work, having seen Call Me By Your Name and interviewing Timothée Chalamet for the cover of V Man when the film was released. But this is the first time we’ve heard about the possibility of the duo formally working together. The full-length interview between The New York Times and Luca is yet to drop, but maybe it’ll shed more light on what the project entailed. Or maybe, as Frank is so accustomed to, the news of the collaboration will drift into the ether. Nothing reaches the public with his name on it unless he’s 100% happy with it. Prepare to wait for a little while for his Luca collab — if it ever materialises at all.
