Now that winter’s here, we find ourselves looking back wistfully towards summer, of heat and light stretching into the night time. Photographers too are reflecting upon it now, surveying the images that captured that spirit earlier in the year.
65 of them, precisely, have chosen the picture that reminds them most of the summertime as part of Something Special’s annual exercise, Summer of Something Special. The photobook — which features work from photographers such as Ashley Markle, Lindsay Ellary, Winter Vandenbrink and Jack Bool — captures a world of bee stings and beach days, drunken frolics at sunrise and children playing under clear blue skies.
Here are just some of the photographs submitted by contributors to the fifth edition of Summer of Something Special. You can buy your copy of the book here, with all proceeds donated to the Ghetto Film School, a non-profit that supports the next generation of storytellers.
