The French Dispatch has been indefinitely postponed

Wes Anderson’s Timothée Chalamet-starring film is just the latest victim of Miss Rona’ culture cancellation spree.

It looks like Miss Rona’s ruthless cultural cull is set to wage on, or so today’s sombre news of the further postponement of Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch would suggest. That’s right, the Timothée Chalamet-starring film, which was originally pushed back from its original July 24th release date to October 16th, has now been listed as ‘unset’ on Disney’s calendar. For the film laypeople out there, this basically means that the flick is now indefinitely postponed.

Those that have come here seeking solace in the confirmed release of other forthcoming blockbusters should probably click away now.  Another film to have been indefinitely placed on ice is Nikki Caro’s Mulan, which was originally set for release all the way back in March. Meanwhile, all three planned Avatar sequels have been pushed back by a year, meaning that James Cameron’s hit franchise won’t be arriving until the end of December 2022.

While this dispatch will obviously come as crushing news for Chalabaes, perhaps there’s comfort to be found in knowing that good things invariably come to those who wait. In the meantime, though, there’s a plethora of cultural offerings available that Miss Rona can’t take away. Here are some of our recent suggestions of books and films to keep you occupied until Timmy takes to our screens once again.
