We’re going to kill the teen dream all over again, ’cause E! are at work on a TV adaptation of Jawbreaker. Deadline report the US network have set the wheels in motion for an unspecified number of hour-long episodes.
Before you roll your eyes at the thought of another reboot, catch this: the film’s original writer-director Darren Stein is still very much involved. He will be co-writing the adaptation with collaborator George Northy — but don’t expect a simple retelling. We’re being promised a “re-imagining” instead, with the 1999 film’s ‘Flawless Four’ being replaced with a new gang. According to Deadline, the group have their “world is rocked by an accidental killing at a bachelorette party,” so it’s looking like we’re not getting a high school setting this time around. Wonder was Rose McGowan is thinking right about now…
