Their awkward choreo and lip sync videos are making them millions of dollars, and you’re sat at home logged into some sort of content management system like an idiot, or you’re sending off job applications like an idiot, or you’re listening to customer complaint calls like an idiot. Bitter? Us?
These revelations come from the inaugural Forbes list of highest earning TikTokers, and the app’s most popular stars are absolutely raking it in. Addison Rae Easterling, the platform’s second most followed user — she has a cool 55 million followers — made the most. At just 19, Addison’s ventures, which include a weekly Spotify playlist, an upcoming beauty line and a sponsorship deal with American Eagle, netted her a cool $5 million last year.
And her fellow uber rich TikTok baby colleagues aren’t far behind. Addison’s Hype House roommate, 16-year-old Charli D’Amelio made $4 million in the past 12 months, despite having more followers (78 million, no biggie). And her sister, 18-year-old Dixie D’Amelio, who shares sponsorship deals with Hollister and Morphe with her sister Charli, made $2.9 million. Also topping the Forbes TikTok rich list — which accounts for earnings made between June 2019 to June this year — is singer Loren Grey, who made $2.6 million, and 18-year-old Josh Richards, who has managed to turn his 21 million TikTok followers into $1.5 million of cold hard cash.
And given that the teens are just starting to monetize their popularity through brand sponsorship deals, reality TV shows and sponsored content, this is probably just the beginning of untold riches for TikTok’s most popular stars. All this time you’ve been laughing at the cringe teens of mainstream TikTok and they’ve been laughing all the way to the bank. I need to sit down and process this.
