When Vetements presented its revolutionary, collab-filled couture show in Paris at the beginning of summer, it looked as if the Reebok component of the collection was limited to hooded windbreakers and matching pants. But sharp-eyed sneakerheads in attendance didn’t fail to notice the heavily graffitied pair of Reebok InstaPump Furys that Vetements designer Demna Gvasalia was wearing on the sidelines. Covered in Sharpie-scrawled pentagram hearts and orthopedic cast slogans such as “I’m bored!” — not to mention an unmistakable “V” on the tongue — they were definitely in keeping with the show’s so-uncool-it’s-cool ethos. A short while later, someone backstage Instagrammed an identical pair in a shot that shows the first few letters on what looks like a Vetements tag. And this morning — via an on-brand, low-key Instagram of a pile of crushed cardboard shipping boxes — Vetements confirmed the launch of a Reebok sneaker collaboration at a secret location in Korea this coming Monday. Whether or not it’s the fabled Fury or maybe even a few different styles (graffitied Shaqnosis, anyone?) remains to be seen. One thing’s for sure, Gvasalia certainly knows how to generate hype.
