There’s a canon of iconic denim campaigns – Kate Moss in Calvin Klein, Nick Kamen in the Levi’s launderette – and we think Alexander Wang has already joined the ranks with his very first denim outing. The Steven Klein images of Bardot-alike Anna Ewers lounging naked in an arm chair, but for her jeans around her ankles (and some cleverly placed text), are going to have people pausing before they flick the page, hovering the mouse before they click away and swerving the car when they spot the billboard. There’s also a risqué hand-between-thigh shot and a cleaner, fully-clothed one.
The new denim line was announced yesterday and the women’s-only collection will be available in Alexander Wang stores and online from 8th December. The jeans come in three styles (slim, relaxed and boy fit) and three colourways (black and two blue washes). With a new flagship store in London, an H&M collaboration, Balenciaga lines and his own label, it’s a wonder Wang could create anything else. But here it is, and now he better find time for the men’s line.
