Royal College of Art graduate Katie Roberts-Wood has been announced as the winner of the Fashion Scout Merit Award for the spring/summer 16 season. Roberts-Wood will show her latest collection in a catwalk presentation at Fashion Scout in September, as well as featuring in the emerging designer showrooms in both London and Paris.
Originally from Nottingham, Katie completed a medical degree in Glasgow before being accepted onto the MA Fashion course at the RCA in London, fulfilling her dream of studying a creative discipline. Katie’s graduate collection, SYNCH, was not stitched together, instead the organic-looking layers are interlinked to form ombre, topographic gradient-style patterns. SYNCH won Collection of the Year at the International Talent Support (ITS) awards in 2014, as well as a Vogue Talent Award.
“Katie’s graduate collection was outstanding and deserved all the international attention,” says Fashion Scout Founder and Creative Director Martyn Roberts, adding that, “The new collection she is developing for the Merit Award builds on this experimentation, taking her creativity to a new level”. Katie will present her collection under the label ROBERTS|WOOD.
