Bringing his pink perfection to the Southbank Centre’s Fashion Undressed Festival and an audience of just as many excited little girls as there were industry types, Ryan Lo reminded us why we love him so much. The princess parade was a Victoria Young-styled selection of pieces spanning an impressive eight seasons and showcasing femininity, Ryan’s Chinese heritage, and a love of pop culture – all set to the sweet sound of Celine Dion. Take a peek at his favourite looks, captured backstage on polaroid and shared with i-D this morning.
Autumn/winter 14’s cosmic cowgirls wore boots made for walking in the autumn/winter 16 Shanghai-inspired show, while the butterfly sweater – as seen on mama Lo backstage last season – was paired with spring/summer 14 lace and dalmation ears. The fantasy combinations took the fairytale romance to starry new heights, earned some tiny new fans, and had us feeling nostalgic but beyond excited for the next instalment. Given the impending stress of fashion week, we applaud Ryan’s commitment to a bonus show and all those late, late nights working/watching SATC. Meanwhile, across town, a certain pink-haired designer was dreaming up something special…
