Not content with designing collections and modeling in Vetements shows, Gosha Rubchinskiy is releasing a new book next week, published by Rei Kawakubo’s resident rare book gurus, IDEA. There are only 500 copies of Youth Hotel available worldwide, and we can exclusively reveal that there will also be a limited release of 30 techno records — a vinyl pressing of the Pavel Milyakov (aka Buttechno) soundtrack for the Gosha Rubchinskiy fall/winter 15 show. On top of that, each of the 30 records and books come in a TECHNO bag.
The book reflects both contemporary and Soviet Russia, with images of the country’s skaters, styles and cityscapes. Gosha told us, “Over the last two seasons, whenever Lotta’s [his stylist, friend and frequent collaborator Lotta Volkova] been over for shoots she stayed in the Youth Hotel. It was built for the Moscow Olympics, it’s very cool, beautiful. After shoots we go to bars and then go back to the hotel because it’s cheap and quiet, we can do after-parties inside. I took a few pictures in and around the rooms.”
All the books will go on sale next Thursday, October 15 at Dover Street Market (London and NYC), Ginza (Tokyo) and Comme des Garcons (Paris). Gosha will make an appearance at the London DSM store to sign copies at 5pm for the outpost’s Frieze Open House event.
