    i-dj: fold

Stepping up for a big i-DJ is NTS resident and ManMakeMusic signing, Rob Glassett aka Fold. Fold’s latest offering for the label has been on repeat at i-D HQ since we premiered it in January so it’s only right for him to return with a mix for us…

What are the top tracks getting heavy rotation in your sets?
    The Normalmen, Mazine Order
Sevensol & Bender, Live At The Coliseum
    David Alvarado, Aire
    Fold, Mr W00d
    Soundstream, Makin’ Love
Evan Baggs, Shake (Evan Baggs Edit)
Anything that is released on Eshu.

What’s the most hedonistic party you’ve ever been to?
It’s a bit obvious but has to be Panorama Bar / Berghain in Berlin.

What’s the most phenomenal clubbing venue in the world and why?
I was lucky enough to enjoy the closing party at Trouw in Amsterdam. I’d say that was probably up there. Then Bagley’s in London which also closed years ago for the drum and bass nights.Panorama bar / Berghain and I’d have to mention Fabric too!

If you could go back to back with any DJ, at any venue, who would it be and why?
I’ve played b2b with some of my best friends individually and that’s the most fun for me. It would be great to have them all on the same line up somewhere, regardless of venue!

History is made at night… what was the best night of your life?
    19th May 2012.

What’s the most debauched thing you’ve ever seen on the dance floor?
    My dads ‘dancing’.

What would your dream rider consist of?
    Serviced Technics 1210’s
    E&S Rotary mixer
    Okabasi food
    Beer
    It’s that simple!

What does your actual rider consist of?
A ‘wholesome’ meal and beers. Nothing special.

What’s your favourite party anthem of all time?
    Squeeze – Cool for cats.

Do you think music subcultures are losing their definition?
Not really, but it’s not something I really dwell on, I prefer creating music to contemplating about it.

What producer(s) are you predicting big things from this year?
Herron, the Meandyou Manchester co founder, Jordan a producer based in Brooklyn, New York and Jack ‘Scientific Dreamz of U’, a producer based in south London

Where do you go when the record ends and the lights come on?
Straight to bed probably via food.

What track would you end the night on when everyone’s still awake and it’s time to go to sleep?
Gigi Masin, The Kasparian Circle or anything by Rod Modell.

    What’s your party trick?
Blending two unrelated records together seamlessly.

Finish the sentence, the music sounds better with…
    A bigger sound system.
