Klyne are 22-year-old friends Ferdous Dehzad (production) and Nick Klein (vocals) from the small city of Helmond in the Netherlands. With a successful debut EP Paralyzed under their belts, followed swiftly by a remix of Disclosure’s Omen ft. Sam Smith, the boys are off to a very strong start. Ferdous somehow finds time to work on his impressive solo project, Trace7000 too, which is signed to Tiga’s Turbo label.
Currently flying high on the success of latest single Don’t Stop, Klyne reached out to English choreographer/director Holly Blakey – who has previously worked with the likes of Florence and the Machine, Jungle, and MØ – to both direct and choreograph the music video. It was on first listen to the harmony-peppered synth track that she knew she wanted to be involved, the opening lyrics Oh baby I can’t hold it for too long sticking in her mind and kick-starting her whole creative process.
“The idea was born from self-obsession and developed more and more as we went along,” explains Holly. “Becky, the female dancer in the video is caught masturbating and then seduces her spoiler before killing him and returning to work.” Low-lit but bathed in warm colours, it’s all very Under The Skin and we’re 100% seduced along with the victim until flashes of red and fury take over. “It’s sexy but it’s more about strength isn’t it? Becky’s so powerful, robust, in charge. We’re the voyeurs, I feel like she doesn’t give a shit about us.”
