In what may or may not have been our phone wallpaper since he sent it to us last week, little baby Santa Lo – pictured on Christmas Eve after a school performance – warms the heart and soul. Busy dreaming up his next collection of fantasy fancy dress, the Hong Kong born, London based designer is a wizard, having already transported us to worlds of bunnies, fairies and cowgirls with past seasons. He might have been a naughty pirate this year, but with dreams of world peace and tales of lonely 25th Decembers past, Ryan Lo might just be the good spirit of Christmas.

Have you been naughty or nice this year?
★ Naughty! I have been dressing up as a pirate recently and no one has dared to mug me in the street.
What’s on your Christmas list?
★ I really want another Bearbrick Bear this year! The Thom Browne Hector dog bag is incredible. There is also a Sacai x DSM exclusive Victorian bomber jacket I really want for everyday in the office.
How will you be spending Christmas day?
★ Don’t know yet, but in the past few years I spent Christmas alone :(( watching sad xmas related films. The xmas scene in Catch Me If You Can always make me cry because the music by Nat King Cole is so moving and emotional. 2046 use the same song for their lonely Christmas scene too!
What’s your favourite Christmas song of all time?
★ Mariah Carey, All I Want For Christmas Is You. Like duh! Absolutely my favourite. I play it all year, even during Easter – you can ask your former i-D editor, Dean Kissick!
Who do you want to kiss under the mistletoe?
★ HA HA HO HO
What’re the best and worst Christmas presents you ever received?
★ I rarely receive Christmas presents actually, but I had a pretty bad gift exchange story when I was 10 at school. My classmate hated the stupid towel gift picked by my mum, he wanted some Yu-Gi-Oh! Asian card games.
What were your 2016 highlights?
★ Passing the ‘Life in the UK test’!!
What’re your hopes for 2017?
★ World peace! Healthier diet! Lose some weight! Be happy! Be more organised! Be on time! Learn to forgive myself and learn to accept failure! Be more positive! Better commutations with friends and family! To love and be loved! <3
How will you usher in the New Year?
★ Stay at home and go to bed early at around 10pm! Not going out to count down, my life is not a SATC movie.
