Like a true New York Gossip Girl, Malia Obama was “spotted” earlier this year touring Columbia and NYU, and again in Williamsburg, interning on the set of Lena Dunham’s ‘GIRLS’. Both sightings set the twittersphere ablaze with rumors of the First Daughter’s post-graduation plans.
The recent high-school grad has yet to make a decision about where she’ll be continuing her education, but incoming freshman everywhere can’t wait to see if they have a shot of sharing a dorm with POTUS’ daughter. Naturally, the Internet has some suggestions….
WWD did some dirty work and ranked Malia’s reported prospects based on “sartorial sensibility” – providing helpful watercolor renderings of each campus’ uniform – to ensure the 17-year-old pledges the sorority of her dreams.
It’s easy to assume that the eldest Obama daughter will follow in her Presidential parents’ footsteps, at either of their alma maters (Barack went to Columbia, Michelle to Princeton, and they both graduated from Harvard Law), but we have a feeling that whether she takes a cue from WWD and ends up either as metrocard wielding NYU student or a Birkenstock Berkley babe, she’ll always be daddy’s little girl.
While it would be cool to see a modern lady donning Harvard Crimson and knee highs, we do know that Malia is partial to repping streetwear, so the jury is still out. However, WWD also considered other factors, like the notable alumni from each institution who could write her recommendation letter, student stereotypes, school rank, tuition price and admission rate. So all that’s left to consider is which school will offer up the most cows?
