While Kim K was taking her first self-portrait in 1984 (age 4), Kendall Jenner was not even a twinkle in the twinkle of her parents’ eyes. But now, at age 19, the selfie student has become the selfie master. A photo posted on the model’s Instagram account has become the most liked Instagram image of all time, surpassing her half-sister’s internet-breaking snap of the Kimye nuptials.
The photo shows Kendall lying on her back with her hair spread out around her in a halo of hearts. She wears a white lace dress (maybe Givenchy?) and her eyes are closed. It’s a little bridal, a little Ophelia, and, TBH, quite beautiful. Also beautiful: the rate at which it amassed likes, roughly 51 per minute, corresponds roughly to one for every heartbeat. Ugh.
Over five weeks, the total number has grown to over 2.5 million. 2,675,224 likes at time of writing. Imagine that every person in Brooklyn liked a photo, OF YOU, and that’s roughly where Kendall’s at right now. Kim may be the Andy Warhol of our generation, but if Instagram is a popularity competition, which it clearly is, Kendall was won.
