Well, hello, welcome back, or thanks for joining us for this, the third series of i-D Podcast Fash-ON Fash-OFF. Over the coming weeks we’re going to bring you all the latest trends, chit-chat and surprises galore direct from London, and today we’re starting with the first of the big four: New York Fashion Week.
As i-D Junior Editor Ryan White wrote at the start of this month, “New York has been having a bit of a crisis of late.
“The departure of Alexander Wang, who’s opted to show in June and December, is just the latest example of the once-fashion behemoth continuing to struggle keeping its key designers on schedule. Raf Simons’s Calvin Klein, the return of Rodarte and Proenza Schouler, and staples like Jeremy Scott and Marc Jacobs will offer some pulling power, but NYFW is having trouble keeping designers from heading to Paris — the only other eight-day long fashion week, which has stars in abundance.”
So, as you can gather, in this week’s episode, we talk all things New York Fashion Week. We give our opinion the shows — the who, the what, the where, the wow. And with many of the biggest designers choosing to show in Paris, we discuss where the future of New York lies.
Today, I’m joined by i-D Features Editor Steve Salter and i-D US Editorial Director, Jack Sunnucks.
