Felicita, A New Family
PC Music here with a song that sounds absolutely nothing like we’ve come to expect from the AG Cook helmed collective. Title track of a new EP out today (21 October), A New Family takes the future tween pop of the label’s previous oeuvre and gives it a screamo makeover of headbanging proportions. It appears on their upcoming Vol. 2 compilation as well.
Rejjie Snow, Pink Beetle
Produced by Rahki, this hypnotic loop does things to us. Like many fans, we’re counting down the tracks until we have a complete album over here, Mr Snow.
YAK, Semi-Automatic
Shot at the palmy, wooden locale of Ridley Road Market Bar, this very topical number comes from a session the London threesome had with Pulp’s Steve Mackey ahead of their current UK tour. With talk of building a wall, forming divisions, little white lies and nuclear bombs, frontman Oli describes it as “a simple and direct response to what we have seen, read and been a part of over the period since the band started touring.” Happy times indeed. Look out for the good hat!
Mined, Pangs
We don’t know a lot about new Peacefrog signee Mined other than he’s from London and he makes music at night (an activity we can only encourage more of). Inspired by the “pangs of longing you get for people that are no longer in your life”, there’s a little of the Brian Enos about this one. Lovely stuff.
Nilüfer Yanya, Keep On Calling
Keener Soundtrack to Your Weekend readers may have noticed that we’re fans of Nilüfer Yanya here at i-D HQ. We’ve written about her here and here and we’ll be writing more here and here in the coming weeks too (we’ll add in those hyperlinks in as and when).
Peluché, Swim
We’ve been enjoying Peluché for a little while now, so it’s nice to see them gearing up their new EP Utopia Village next month. “We are very proud of this EP,” say the London three-piece. “The first half represents feelings of commitment and attachment; the way that people can feel connected in positive and negative polarities. The second half is about taking a chance and breaking free as musicians.” It’s got clarinets and everything!
Maggie Rogers, Alaska
It’s the girl that almost moved Pharrell to tears! Now she’s moving through a very beautiful forest with a confetti cannon, smoke machine, disco lights and some great dance routines. Once her debut music video is through, off Maggie walks into the darkness to pen more catchy songs.
Celeste, Day Dreaming
LA born, Brighton native Celeste was raised on seaside air and inspired by Avant Garde Jazz. From idolising the vocal prowess of Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, and Alice Coltrane, Celeste learned to sing with heart and soon developed a love of instrumentalists such as Thelonious Monk and Sun-Ra. All of this has come together to create Celeste’s unfeigned, honest, and heartfelt writing style.
Pixie Geldof, Woman Go Wild

Porter Robinson & Madeon, Shelter
Probably the best 6 minutes and 6 seconds you’ll spend watching something today. Made in association with A-1 Pictures and the satisfyingly named anime website/institution Crunchyroll, meet Rin, a young girl who lives inside a virtual reality made by her father when the world ended. Adventure time!
