First it was Joan Didion for Céline, then Joni Mitchell for Saint Laurent. Last week, Marc Jacobs tossed his proverbial pimp hat into the campaign legend game with a David Sims-lensed, Katie Grand-directed shot of Cher for fall/winter 15. And today, just when our booming “YAAAAAAS”s had started to simmer down, Jacobs released an image of the 69-year-old pop icon’s partner in campaign crime: 14-year-old wunderkind Willow Smith.
“Ever since our first Juergen Teller ad in 1998 which featured Kim Gordon on stage wearing my dress, I have always preferred collaborating with the people who inspire me to give new life to the clothes we show on our runway,” Jacobs wrote in an Instagram post unveiling the shot earlier today. After calling out other members of the “incredibly diverse and exceptional group of talented friends” he’s collabed with over the years–a squad including Sofia Coppola, Miley Cyrus and fellow basic bitch detector Kate Moss–the designer threw the lil’est Smith’s name into the mix.
It almost goes without saying that Willow, perched atop a wooden step stool in a shimmery overcoat situation, is absolutely nailing her first major label campaign. “Stay tuned over the coming weeks for more…” Jacobs teased. Could this mean Jaden?
