Is a TV adaptation of R.F. Kuang’s YELLOWFACE in the works? Yesterday, Variety reported that Lionsgate Television has optioned the novel. The story follows a struggling white author named June Hayward who finds success in passing off her dead friend’s manuscript about Chinese labourers during WWI as her own. As June becomes ‘Juniper Song’, she rides the wave of her newfound fame until her elaborate deception unravels. Tied to the potential adaptation is Karyn Kusama, known for directing Jennifer’s Body and episodes of Yellowjackets. We can’t wait to know more.
